Dalwhinnie Distillery

Scotland's Highest Whisky Distillery

In the Cairngorm Mountains, at the heart of Scotland’s Highlands lies Dalwhinnie Distillery, the highest whisky distillery in Scotland.

Being the highest distillery in Scotland where weather conditions can be severe, it is always best during winter months to phone in advance (01540 672219) to see if they are open to visitors.
Dalwhinnie Distillery stands in the Cairngorm National Park at the heart of the Scottish Highlands in the village of Dalwhinnie. From this remote but accessible location comes Dalwhinnie 15 year old single malt scotch whisky, it is also known as the ‘gentle spirit’. Dalwhinnie invite you to visit for a distillery tour and see how they make their single malt whisky. At the end of the tour enjoy a taste of Single malt whisky paired with specially selected handmade chocolate. Dalwhinnie 15 year old is a Highland malt whisky but some have argued that it should be called Speyside malt because the Dalwhinnie water source is a tributary of the river Spey the great whisky river. Dalwhinnie is often called the highest distillery in Scotland and at 1164 feet above sea level it must at very least be “one” of the highest distilleries. They don’t worry too much about being Highest or not, preferring to focus on making great single malt whisky. If you don’t have time for a tour you can also visit just for a whisky tasting. Dalwhinnie have paired great single malts like Dalwhinnie, Glenkinchie, Cragganmore, Talisker, Oban and Lagavulin with specially selected handmade chocolates. They also have a selection of Dalwhinnie whisky tastings, with a selection of our own Dalwhinnie whiskies, matched with specially selected handmade chocolates. These whisky and chocolate tastings are a truly unique experience.
